The Academy of Plant and Animal Systems is for students who want to explore careers in agriculture, animal science, and environmental systems. With an increasing global demand for food and decreasing land availability, agriculture is one of the fastest-growing industries, offering exciting opportunities that make a real impact on food systems, sustainability, and animal care. This Academy prepares students for post-secondary education and careers in the agricultural industry.

In the Horticulture Production pathway, students learn plant science, greenhouse operations, soil and water systems, pest management, and sustainable growing practices. Students gain real-world experience through work-based learning in the Academy’s onsite greenhouse, where they grow, manage, and market plants while building leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

In the Veterinary and Animal Science pathway, students learn animal anatomy and physiology, health and nutrition, behavior, safety, and basic veterinary care. Students gain hands-on experience through work-based learning at the Academy’s onsite farm, where they care for animals, assist with daily operations, and practice real-world skills used in veterinary and agricultural careers. This pathway helps students build leadership, responsibility, and problem-solving skills while preparing them for post-secondary education and careers in veterinary medicine, animal science, and agricultural industries.
